The Health & Joy Services Annual Holiday Party was a spectacular event held at The Gathering Spot, where we celebrated the season with music, excellent food, drinks, and plenty of fun. A huge thank you to The Gathering Spot for hosting us, DJ Xray for keeping the dance floor alive, V. Brand Images for capturing the moments, and DC Photo Booth Company for adding an extra layer of fun with their photo booth.
During the event, we took a moment to reflect on the year and recognize outstanding contributions with two special awards in honor of John Jackson Jr. and Kim Walker Bluford. The John Jackson Jr. Heart of Service Award was presented to Jamia Thompson, a dedicated DSP who supports the IDS (Individualized Day Supports) Services for Health & Joy. Her supervisor, Lakeisha Eley, praised her for her unwavering support, willingness to work on her days off, and her readiness to assist anyone in need.
The Kim Walker-Bluford "Fantastic" Advocacy Award was given to Alison Whyte, an exceptional advocate in the IDD community. Alison has spent a significant part of her career advocating for individuals in the community and the staff members who work tirelessly in the field.
We had a wonderful time together, filled with joy and camaraderie. As we look forward to the new year, we wish everyone a Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!
